The XIV. Annual Linz Winter Workshop will focus on biological single-molecule research, nano-science, nano-medicine, and bio-nanotechnology.

Techniques presented will include:

• atomic force microscopy • optical tweezers
• dynamic force spectroscopy • optical spectroscopy
• fluorescence microscopy • self-organization
• single-channel electrophysiology • nanofabrication methods


We will also present special sessions on nano-diagnostics & nano-medicine and high-speed bio-AFM this year.

It is our aim to provide a common platform for industry and academia. Sponsors of the meeting will be the University of Linz and Agilent Technologies.

Hands-on Winter School (optional)
Tuesday, January 31 - Thursday, February 2

This is an optional school for young scientists and newcomers to learn single-molecule imaging techniques using atomic force microscopy (AFM), optical microscopy, and fluorescence spectroscopy.

Training sessions will include the following topics: Single-Molecule Force Spectroscopy, Cell and Recognition Imaging, High-Throughput Screening with Single-Molecule Sensitivity, and Single-Dye Tracing in Cells.

Hands-on Winter School - 190 €
This is the optional session from January 31 (starting at 9 am) to February 2 (closing at 6 pm).
Fee does not cover accommodations or meals.

Skiing Day Fee for transfer and ticket on a self-cost basis.
This is an optional event on Friday, February 3, 2012.

Workshop - 370 €
This is an all-inclusive rate that covers:

• registration
• abstract book
• social events (incl. conference dinners)
• lunches

...from Friday evening, February 3 through Monday evening, February 6, 2012.
Fee does not cover accommodations.

Invitation to present and presentation specifications TOP ^

Participants are encouraged to give a 10-minute talk plus a 5-minute discussion, or present a poster. Poster size requirements are 150 cm (wide) x 120 cm (high).
Talks should contain high-quality research results and are selected by a scientific committee.

Poster abstract deadline is December 31, 2011.
